     Scott Boyer has been the singer and guitar player of the influential band Cowboy on Capricorn Records. Scott was also a member of Gregg Allman’s solo band, Locust Fork and the Convertibles with Topper Price. He has performed with the Allman Brothers among others and recorded with many southern rock acts as a member of the Capricorn Records rhythm section.

   While attending college in Tallahassee, he and two former high school classmates from Jacksonville, David Brown and Butch Trucks, formed a band called The Bitter Ind.

   Back in Jacksonville when was member of The 31st of February, circa 1968, Butch Trucks began playing jam sessions in the park that led to forming The Allman Brothers Band. Around the same time, Scott met Tommy Talton, with whom he formed Cowboy, enjoying national recognition for several years. With Duane Allman’s help, Cowboy signed with Capricorn Records, where the band recorded four albums.

   Cowboy toured with The Allman Brothers, Poco, Wet Willie, Pure Prairie League, and The Amazing Rhythm Aces. Also during this time, Scott worked on Gregg Allman’sLaid Back”, and did two national tours with Gregg in support of the much-revered release. Cowboy relocated to Fairhope, AL in 1976, and afterwards Scott played with Locust Fork, before forming The Convertibles, with Topper Price and Bryan (BW) Wheeler.

      Scott’s best known songs are “Please Be With Me” (Eric Clapton, Randy Meisner), “All My Friends” and “Silence Ain’t Golden Anymore” (Gregg Allman) and “It’s Time” (Bonnie Bramlett) plus songs recorded by Jimmy Hall, Little Milton, Chuck Leavell and Neal McCoy. Scott is a member of the Muscle Shoals all-star band the Decoys and still occasionly performs with Cowboy and Tommy Talton as well as a duo with NC Thurman or Donnie Fritts.
